Handlez

A fantasy basketball assistant for Yahoo leagues: your matchup, your roster and the moves that help this week, on iPhone.

Handlez matchup screen: projected result for each category of the week
Handlez players screen: free agents ranked by how much they help this matchup

The problem

Yahoo's app shows a category league as it stands. The questions that decide a week are about what comes next: which categories are still in reach, how many games each player has left, and which free agent would change the result.

What I built

Data pipelines. Sync jobs read each Yahoo league every 15 minutes, with read-only access, and bring in ESPN schedules, box scores, injuries and news. Everything lands in Postgres, so every screen works from one normalised copy and says where each number came from.

An app on top. A TypeScript backend turns that data into projections, win chances per category and a weekly plan. The iPhone app, built with Expo, shows them on Today, Matchup, Roster, Players and League, with widgets and alerts. An LLM assistant explains the moves in plain words.

Built with an agent team. I built it alone, with a team of AI coding agents that I brief, run and review: about 1,300 commits across the backend and the app since June 2026.

What happened

Handlez has been on the App Store since 6 October 2026, free, for Yahoo NBA leagues.
